Popped in here yesterday on my lunch, was a nice change to the usual raft of Tesco sandwiches I fill up on my luncheon breaks.
It was, for all intensive purposes - peeing down. The rain was legendarily poor - thick, heavy balls of rain (it's that fine rain that soak you through though :) )
This is probably the closest coffee shop from the paper so it is where I took shelter. Ordered a large black coffee and sat down. The friendly staff brought it to the table and I sat there for a good half hour, reading the competition and sipping watching the world go by.
This place also does a good range of breakfast and sandwich items as well as a small selection of daily hot food. Well worth a go. -

Nice little coffee shop which serves good coffee. I think it's maybe now called The Belfast Tea and Coffee Co. Have popped in quite a few times in the past when in city centre and they serve a tasty range of salads, sandwiches, sweet things and breakfasts. Pleasant staff too. There was a mix up once when I was in a few months ago and my coffee took a long time being served. However they did apologise and didn't charge me for the coffee - good customer service. It's a cafe I often simply forget about as it's just on the edge of the city centre, right at the top of Royal Avenue. I must call in again. Good cafe which has both table service and take away.

Stopped by for a quick wake me up cuppa coffee before a business meeting. Coffee was superb, strong and tasty. Staff friendly.

If you ask me, cafes shouldn't be part of big chains. Forget massive franchises like Starbucks and Pret a Manger, coffee shops should be intimate, welcoming and unique.
Belfast Coffee Company is just that. Situated on Royal Avenue, just across from Belfast Central Library, it is nicely placed close to both the city centre shops and the painfully trendy Cathedral Quarter.
I called in for a cup of tea on my way into work in the morning and have to say that I received a genuinely warm welcome. I'm quite fussy when it comes to my tea, so for me, the fact that the staff member serving me listened to what I wanted and delivered it perfectly is a big plus.
If I had to pick a hole, it would be that first thing in the morning, they didn't really have enough of a selection for breakfast. The cakes in the display cases looked amazing, but I didn't have the stomach for cream cake first thing in the morning and the only other option was a scone (not my favourite).
All in all though, I loved the atmosphere, the attentive staff, the location and most importantly, the free chocolate I got with my drink! -

This is how coffee shops should be!!
The staff are great, the atmosphere so warm and inviting, unlike the clinical chains of Starbucks and the sort. And the coffee? top notch! It's the kind of place you can go an sit for as long as you like getting lost in a great conversation, book or magazine! And no one will make you feel like you're taking up valuable seating! I really love this place. They also offer some nice breakfasts and light bites, an of course yummy sweet things we shouldn't eat but simply must!
If you're looking for somewhere to give you a break form the norm, your shopping or the working day then check this place out! You certainly won't be disappointed!
